Access Church

Sunday, at Access, we celebrated Christmas. Pastor Jason delivered a great talk reminding us that the birth of Christ shows us that God is with us. We also took communion and sang carols together. As I walked to my truck after service with my six year old son, Connor, he saw that I was carrying the extra communion cups and asked me what they were . I took a moment to explain to him what communion is and why it is so important to us as Christ followers. Then, in my truck in the YMCA parking lot, my son and I took communion together. It was an incredibly powerful and spiritual moment for me as a father. It reminded me that too often we rely on others to teach our children about God. Sometimes it's easier to just let them learn about God in church and then ask them about it after. I want to encourage all of our parents to use this Christmas season as an opportunity to be actively involved in teaching our children about Christ.
