- Why do we struggle to give?
1. We have a misunderstanding about ownership.
Deuteronomy 10:14 // To the Lord your God belong the heavens, even the highest heavens, the earth and everything in it.
Psalm 24:1 NLT // The earth is the Lord’s, and everything in it. The world and all its people belong to him.
Psalms 50:10-12 NKJV // Every animal of the forest is mine, and the cattle on a thousand hills. 11 I know every bird in the mountains, and the insects in the fields are mine. 12 If I were hungry I would not tell you, for the world is mine, and all that is in it.
- I STEWARD it.
- The FIRST belongs to God.
Exodus 23:19 NKJV // The first of the firstfruits of your land you shall bring into the house of the Lord your God. You shall not boil a young goat in its mother’s milk.
Genesis 4:3-5 // In the course of time Cain brought some of the fruits of the soil as an offering to the Lord. 4 And Abel also brought an offering—fat portions from some of the firstborn of his flock. The Lord looked with favor on Abel and his offering, 5 but on Cain and his offering he did not look with favor. So Cain was very angry, and his face was downcast.
2. We have a misunderstanding of Lordship
- Money tells the STORY of our HEARTS.
Matthew 6:21 // For where your treasure is, there your heart will be also.
Matthew 6:24 // “No one can serve two masters. Either you will hate the one and love the other, or you will be devoted to the one and despise the other. You cannot serve both God and money.”
