Music Director
Part-Time
SUMMARY
The Music Director (MD) serves as a key leader within the worship team at the location level, helping execute excellent, engaging, and spiritually impactful worship experiences. This role focuses on musical leadership, preparation, and development of volunteer musicians, ensuring consistency and excellence across all services.
SKILLS & ABILITIES
- Proficient in Playback and Ableton Live
- Experience using Planning Center (PCO)
- Strong understanding of modern worship music and arrangement styles
- Excellent musical ability on bass or electric guitar (strongly preferred)
- Ability to play keys is a plus
- Strong knowledge of the Nashville Number System, with the ability to teach others
- Experience leading or directing bands in a church or live music setting
RESPONSIBILITIES
Musical Leadership
- Lead band rehearsals and Sunday services with confidence, clarity, and excellence
- Serve as the primary musical leader for the location during services
- Execute arrangements as provided while maintaining musical excellence and consistency
Preparation & Execution
- Program and manage tracks using Playback
- Build and maintain sessions in Ableton for special services and rehearsals
- Ensure all musical elements (tracks, transitions, arrangements) are prepared ahead of time
Volunteer Development
- Equip and develop volunteer musicians musically and spiritually
- Teach and reinforce the Nashville Number System as needed
- Help create a culture of growth, excellence, and team unity
Collaboration
- Work closely with the Location Worship Director to align on vision and execution
- Communicate clearly with team members regarding expectations, arrangements, and schedules
EXPECTATIONS
- Consistent availability on Sunday mornings (required)
- Wednesday night availability preferred for midweek gatherings
- Demonstrates a high level of professionalism, preparation, and reliability
