Outlook Over Outcome

Hebrews 11:2, 39  //  Through their faith, the people in days of old earned a good reputation...All these people earned a good reputation because of their faith, yet none of them received all that God had promised.

• We want OUTCOMES but God is more concerned with our OUTLOOK
  • YOU control your outlook
  • GOD controls the outcome
• Outcome faith:
  • Disappointment
  • Arrogance
  • Envy

James 1:2-4  //  Dear brothers and sisters, when troubles of any kind come your way, consider it an opportunity for great joy. 3 For you know that when your faith is tested, your endurance has a chance to grow. 4 So let it grow, for when your endurance is fully developed, you will be perfect and complete, needing nothing.

  • Contentment
• HEARING the Word…not the world

Romans 10:17 (NKJV)  //  So then faith comes by hearing, and hearing by the word of God.

• SPEAKING the Word…not my words

Joshua 1:8 (NIV)  //  Keep this Book of the Law always on your lips; meditate on it day and night, so that you may be careful to do everything written in it. Then you will be prosperous and successful.

• DOING the Word…not my ways

James 2:17 (NLT)  //  So you see, faith by itself isn’t enough. Unless it produces good deeds, it is dead and useless.

Hebrews 11:40  //  For God had something better in mind for us, so that they would not reach perfection without us.
