Remain

1 John 15:1-5 NIV   //  I am the true vine, and my Father is the gardener. He cuts off every branch in me that bears no fruit, while every branch that does bear fruit he prunes so that it will be even more fruitful. You are already clean because of the word I have spoken to you. Remain in me, as I also remain in you. No branch can bear fruit by itself; it must remain in the vine. Neither can you bear fruit unless you remain in me. I am the vine; you are the branches. If you remain in me and I in you, you will bear much fruit; apart from me you can do nothing.

Remain:

  • Greek = “Me-no”
  • To abide or dwell.
  • To hold on for life.
  • If you do + I will = 🍎
  • To remain is to have the strength to do the hard part.
  • What is your worldview?
  • When your worldview is centered on anything other than Jesus, you will always remain holding onto the wrong thing.

Acts 1:4-5  //  On one occasion, while he was eating with them, he gave them this command: “Do not leave Jerusalem, but wait for the gift my Father promised, which you have heard me speak about. For John baptized with water, but in a few days you will be baptized with the Holy Spirit.”

  • What kind of fruit are you producing?

Questions to ask yourself about the fruit you're producing:

  1. What would your kids say about your character?
  2. What would your bank account say about your consumerism?
  3. What would your social media feed say about your self-esteem?

Ways you can begin to remain in Him today:

  1. Spend time in prayer and ask God to show you what it means to remain in him.
  2. Spend time with others and ask them to help you cling to your faith. [access.tv/groups]
  3. Spend time making life decisions to keep your soul healthy in this season.
