  • Question: Have you ever gotten bad advice?
  • Follow your heart

Jeremiah 17:9 (NIV)  //  The heart is deceitful above all things
and beyond cure.
Who can understand it?

Proverbs 4:23 (NIV)  //  Above all else, Guard your heart, For everything you do flows from it

  • Feelings aren't a fruit of the Spirit.

Psalm 22:1-2  //  My God, my God, why have you forsaken me? Why are you so far from saving me, so far from my cries of anguish?
My God, I cry out by day, but you do not answer,
by night, but I find no rest.

  • Scripture calls David the “man after God’s own heart.”
  • YET

Psalm 22:3-5 (NIV)  //  Yet you are enthroned as the Holy One;
you are the one Israel praises. In you our ancestors put their trust;
they trusted and you delivered them.
To you they cried out and were saved;
in you they trusted and were not put to shame.

  • The goal isn’t to NOT FEEL, but to remember the YET in the midst of the feelings.
  • The heart to follow is the Heart of God

Psalm 51:10  //  Create in me a pure heart, O God

  • Acknowledge the places you’ve allowed feelings to take the place of faith.
  • Guard your heart
  • Find the heart of God

Psalm 51:17 (NIV)  //  My sacrifice, O God, is a broken spirit;
a broken and contrite heart
you, God, will not despise

  • Being broken isn’t bad. It’s the start of healing.
