Romans 8:1 (NIV) // Therefore, there is now no condemnation for those who are in Christ Jesus
- Condemnation is the opposite of justification
- What would change for you if you lived like there was no condemnation?
- Flesh vs. Spirit
Romans 8:5-6 (NIV) // Those who live according to the flesh have their minds set on what the flesh desires; but those who live in accordance with the Spirit have their minds set on what the Spirit desires. The mind governed by the flesh is death, but the mind governed by the Spirit is life and peace.
- Just because we are saved does not mean we don’t struggle with sin
Galatians 5:24 (ESV) // “Those who belong to Christ Jesus have crucified the flesh with its passions and desires.”
Galatians 2:20 (ESV) // “I have been crucified with Christ, it is no longer I who live, but Christ who lives in me; and the life I now live in the flesh I live by faith in the Son of God who loved me and gave himself for me.”
- Flesh wants to satisfy itself with legalism
- Spirit takes surrender
- What would it look like for you to live dead to flesh and alive in God’s spirit?
- CHOSEN
Romans 8:14-17 (NIV) // For those who are led by the Spirit of God are the children of God. The Spirit you received does not make you slaves, so that you live in fear again; rather, the Spirit you received brought about your adoption to sonship. And by him we cry, “Abba, Father.” The Spirit himself testifies with our spirit that we are God’s children. Now if we are children, then we are heirs—heirs of God and co-heirs with Christ, if indeed we share in his sufferings in order that we may also share in his glory.
- You are not condemned, you are chosen
- What would look like if I lived like I believed I was chosen?
- FILLED
Romans 8:9-11 (NIV) // You, however, are not in the realm of the flesh but are in the realm of the Spirit, if indeed the Spirit of God lives in you. And if anyone does not have the Spirit of Christ, they do not belong to Christ. 10 But if Christ is in you, then even though your body is subject to death because of sin, the Spirit gives life because of righteousness. 11 And if the Spirit of him who raised Jesus from the dead is living in you, he who raised Christ from the dead will also give life to your mortal bodies because of his Spirit who lives in you.
- Are you living like God’s spirit is in you?
- What would change for you if you lived every day like the spirit that raised Jesus from the dead was inside of you?
- ALL THINGS
Romans 8:28 (NIV) // And we know that in all things God works for the good of those who love Him, who have been called according to His purpose.
- Good doesn’t always look good
- What would change for me if I lived like all the things were for my good?
