  • PRIDE is a seemingly small detail that can make a big difference in my life.
  • Pride Is:
  • An ATTITUDE of INDEPENDENCE from God
  • UNGRATEFULNESS to God
  • Considering OURSELVES better than OTHERS
  • Pride Isn’t:
  • A good self-image
  • A job well done
  • Check Your Ego

Isaiah 14:12-15   //   How you have fallen from heaven, morning star, son of the dawn! You have been cast down to the earth, you who once laid low the nations! You said in your heart, “I will ascend to the heavens; I will raise my throne above the stars of God; I will sit enthroned on the mount of assembly, on the utmost heights of Mount Zaphon. I will ascend above the tops of the clouds; I will make myself like the Most High.” But you are brought down to the realm of the dead, to the depths of the pit.

Proverbs 16:5   //  The Lord detests all the proud of heart. Be sure of this: They will not go unpunished.

  • Getting rid of pride means keeping my ego in check
  • Know Your Limits

James 1:17  //  Every good and perfect gift is from above, coming down from the Father of the heavenly lights, who does not change like shifting shadows.

Psalm 103:13-14   //  As a father has compassion on his children, so the Lord has compassion on those who fear him; for he knows how we are formed, he remembers that we are dust.

  • We as humans have limits
  • Imitate Jesus

Matthew 9:10-12  //  While Jesus was having dinner at Matthew’s house, many tax collectors and sinners came and ate with him and his disciples. When the Pharisees saw this, they asked his disciples, “Why does your teacher eat with tax collectors and sinners?” On hearing this, Jesus said, “It is not the healthy who need a doctor, but the sick.

  • Jesus’ life is the best example of getting rid of pride
  • If you’re too busy looking down on people and things, you can’t look up to God
  • Ask God to forgive you

James 4:6 (MSG)  //  It’s common knowledge that “God goes against the willful proud; God gives grace to the willing humble.”

  • Be Watchful
  • Live Different
