Ephesians 2:8-10 // For it is by grace you have been saved, through faith—and this is not from yourselves, it is the gift of God—not by works, so that no one can boast. For we are God’s handiwork, created in Christ Jesus to do good works, which God prepared in advance for us to do.
Ephesians 2:8 // For it is by grace you have been saved, through faith
- Grace: God’s power in you to do what you can’t do on your own.
Ephesians 2:9 // not by works, so that no one can boast.
- Grace is opposed to earning, but not to effort.
- We are not saved BY works, but we are saved FOR works.
Ephesians 2:10 // For we are God’s handiwork, created in Christ Jesus to do good works, which God prepared in advance for us to do.
- You don’t think we have any needs.
- You did it before and hated it.
- You don’t see yourself the way God sees you.
1. Every Christian is a MINISTER
1 Peter 2:9 // But you are a chosen people, a royal priesthood, a holy nation, God’s special possession, that you may declare the praises of him who called you out of darkness into his wonderful light.
2. Every task is IMPORTANT
1 Corinthians 12:27 // Now you are the body of Christ, and each one of you is a part of it.
3. Every person is UNIQUE and NEEDED
1 Corinthians 12:4-8 (MSG) // God’s various gifts are handed out everywhere; but they all originate in God’s Spirit. God’s various ministries are carried out everywhere; but they all originate in God’s Spirit. God’s various expressions of power are in action everywhere; but God himself is behind it all. Each person is given something to do that shows who God is: Everyone gets in on it, everyone benefits. All kinds of things are handed out by the Spirit, and to all kinds of people! The variety is wonderful.
